Defining What Is Right
All of us are under some pressure to do what is right, whether from ourselves, our family, or society. We do our best to stick to the right side of things because we feel immoral doing otherwise. Yet most of the time, we accept this ambiguous word – “right” – simply because we haven’t really thought about it. There will never be a shortage of people to opine on what the right behavior is, and yet very rarely do people admit to the subjectiveness of their beliefs. For many, it only becomes clear that there is no correct point of view when two people they respect have completely opposite opinions. Even then, one will usually relieve oneself of the discord of not knowing who to believe by taking a side. All the while, it should be clear that neither side is right: each person is merely stating his own opinion, and the only way to figure out what is right is to ask yourself.

Nice writing, Evan. Original ideas on familiar, universal themes.
Evan, have you ever taken the Meyers Briggs personality test? Based on this piece I would guess that you are an extreme ‘N’. Just idle curiosity…
And what is Right? Is it right to forget our most beloved dreams? Even if they are childish dreams? I hear this all the time around me just because I don’t want to work in an office, to work myself to death this way. I’m a choreographer and a theatre writer in a country where nobody knows how to dream anymore and they usually ask me: “What is your job?” “I dance, write plays” “No, seriously, what is your job?” - “My job is to do whatever I like”. And they look at me whit a sad face, but I think they don’t realize this is the way out from Neverland. My pupils call me Peter Pan
Hey! Right is what is morally correct. It’s a pretty tough concept to relate.
CAN SOMEONE PLEASE BLOG?
I love your writing, it never ceases to amaze me though it addresses the most simple of questions.
If only everyone thought that way.
Tony Blair was the master of doing what he ‘beleived to be right’. The amount of times he used that term, after the invasion of Iraq ‘I done what I beleived to be right’. I agree that deep down, you have an instinct that tells you this is right, but people with power and influence can abuse their power by doing what they think is ‘right’.
Arrogance, stuborness, passion, love, jelousy, envy, hate ect.. Can all have a judgement on ones actions and potentially clud ones judgement on what is ‘right’.
What I like the most about this Evan, is when you stated it ‘there is no correct point of view when two people they respect have completely opposite opinions’ I stumble across this alot. Its not as simple as to just ask yourself ‘what is right?’. I am wondering if you are writing these fascinating pieces of writing on your own experiences?

ilove you
